Ghiberti's bronze doors were made for the Baptistery. These are the originals in the Duomo Museum. Copies are at the Baptistery. Michaelangelo said they were fit to be the Gates of Paradise.
A statue of the famous (infamous?) Florentine, Niccolo Macchiavelli outside the Ufizzi Gallery.
St. Jerome, Patron Saint of Libraries. This fresco of "St. Jerome in his Study", by Domenico Ghirlandao (1480) is located in the Church of Ognissanti in Florence. As a retired librarian, this image had a special appeal for Bill.
Prior to our trip, we had read a novel set in Renaissance Florence: "Sign of the Weeping Virgin" by Alana White. The famous Ponte Vecchio Bridge. It is filled with gold and silver shops.
